Dangerous Foods For Your Pet

Most people know that certain foods are bad for your furry friends. Chocolate is one of the most well know foods that are bad for dogs. Chocolate especially dark chocolate can cause your pet to become very sick. Chocolate contains Theo-bromine which is very toxic to dogs. It can cause vomiting and diarrhea, abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures, and even death. Alcohol is anoth-er one that most pet owners know is not good for their pets but often is accidently given to pets. Some pets love the taste of beer but it can cause vomiting, diarrhea, de-pression, poor coordination, difficulty breathing, and coma.  Avocado contains persin. Persin in large amounts is toxic to dogs. So no matter how good that guacamole is, your dog should not have any.  Onions and Garlic they dam-age a dog’s red blood cells leading to Anemia. Onions and Garlic are found in numerous foods, which makes it difficult to keep away from hungry pets.  Caffeine like many other stimulants is bad for your pet. Too much caffeine could be fatal for your pet. Caffeine can also be found in some human medications. Human Medica-tion should never be given to your pets, unless instructed by your veterinarian.  Grapes and Raisins can cause kidney failure, even a small amount. Some symptoms can be lethargy, depression, and repeated vomiting. Milk and Other Dairy Products can leave your pet with digestive upset and diar-rhea. It can also set up some food allergies. Cats are actually lactose intolerant. Macadamia Nuts are very dangerous to pets. As little as 6 can make a dog ill. They can cause muscle tremors, weak-ness or paralysis in the hind-quarters, vomiting, increased body temperature, and rapid heart rate.  Candy and Gum can some-times contain Xylitol. Xylitol increases insulin production and decreases blood sugar which ultimately can lead to liver failure.  Persimmons, Peaches, Plums have dangerous seeds and pits that can make a pet very ill. Pits and Bones can cause obstructions in your dogs stomach and intestines. Fat Trimmings can cause pancreatitis. Raw eggs and Meat can hold bacteria that can upset your pets stomach.
