Dr. Ron W. Bachman was born and raised in Mulvane, KS. He is a 1986 graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He met his wife Sharon, also a K State graduate, while attending college. The Bachmans have 2 sons who are both currently attending Kansas State University. Chad is majoring in CSI Software Engineering and Alex is majoring in Veterinary Medicine. The Bachmans owned and operated a successful small animal practice in Southern California for 20 years where he gained a special interest in orthopedics, dentistry and surgery. Since returning to Kansas and purchasing FMA Animal Hospital in August 2010, Dr. Bachman has dedicated himself to providing excellent medicine with an individual and personal touch. Dr. Bachman brings his 2 furry kids to work with him every day, a Schnauzer named Snuffy aka Snufflelufagus and a rather LARGE Golden Retriever puppy named Kaepe.
My name is Alex James Bachman, I am the son of Ron and Sharon Bachman. I spent most of my life in southern California raising livestock for show. I mostly cared for crossbred beef cattle, swine, and sheep through which I learned much about responsibility and also general animal health. I was an active 4-H member in my community and an officer in FFA at Apple Valley High School. After my sophomore year, my family moved to Kansas where I graduated from high school in Wellsville. I began my collegiate career at Kansas State University in 2008 with aspirations to go to the College of Veterinary Medicine.
My dreams to become a veterinarian have always been inspired by my lifelong role model and Dad, Ron Bachman. His passion for veterinary medicine and care for animals showed me very early in my life that I wanted to align my career path with his own and hopefully work with him someday. On May 15, 2015 I graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
With school finally over I have chosen to start my professional career at FMA Animal Hospital where I will benefit from working alongside the best veterinarian and staff a new graduate could ask for. During my time off I enjoys spending time with my wife Amiee and our two dogs Addi and Finn.
Hailing from the high desert city of Hesperia, this California cutie captures the interest of all who encounter her. Her deep blue eyes, soft cream fur and chocolate markings are an explosive combination of features! But don’t let her “girl next door” looks fool you! This free-spirited gal is a perfect blend of nice and naughty, shy and daring, simple and exotic. She is pawsitively the quintessential pin up queen, gracing many a show ring in her younger years.
Now enjoying a well deserved retirement at FMA, Bettie spends her days sweet talking the staff, making googily eyes at the clients and getting that gorgeous mane stuck in her mouth while perfecting her self grooming skills.
This gorgeous California import is a purebred Ragdoll and former beauty queen, gaining her first national title at the mere age of 2. Tired of life in the big city, Norma decided to make a change, come to Kansas and devote her life to little more than rest and relaxation. In between cat naps, using the front desk computer monitor as a pillow, and tricking clients into believing she is a stuffed animal, Norma enjoys tummy rubs, receiving compliments on how gorgeous she is and sharpening her claws on the brand new chairs in the reception area.
Hello my name is Kat and I am the Practice Manger here at FMA Animal Hospital. I started at FMA Animal Hospital back in 2012 as Kennel Technician. I have a degree in Biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and have always had a passion working with animals. In my spare time I enjoy hiking with my wife Lucy and our 3 dogs, Moose, Blake, and Sullivan Wullivan Bear. We also like to go camping in our 1960’s vintage canned ham camper. When not enjoying the great outdoors, you can find me cheering (loudly) at FC Kansas City Women’s soccer games. I have a passion for supporting Women’s Professional Soccer and love supporting our great city.
My name is Rachel. I have been working in the veterinary field since 2005. I have always had a passion to work with animals and have decided to turn that into a career. My favorite thing about working at FMA is the cherished relationships I develop with our patients and clients on a daily basis. I get a lot of satisfaction out of helping make a beloved pet feel better, and then returning them to their family. To me, there is no greater fulfillment. In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies, listening to music, and spending time with my own furry family. I have a bulldog named Frida Lolita (my main lady), a French Bulldog named Lanette, and 2 cats.
My love for animals began as a small child. Our family dog assumed the role of my sibling as I am an only child and my fur family has grown from there. I began working at a local shelter in 2010. I spent my 4 years with the organization working in every department it had to offer. I came to FMA in Sept. 2014 excited to further my knowledge in a front desk position. I am now cross trained to help as a vet tech and have been amazed to see the dedication our staff puts into going above and beyond for everyone they meet. Through ensuring such optimal care we develop bonds with our clients and their pets that is unlike any other. I share my home with my 4 beloved dogs – Hazel the Weimaraner, Opal the Shepherd/Chow, Chicken the Pom/Chi, and Noodle the Chi. I spend my free time with them as well as my human loved ones exploring whatever adventure life brings.
Hi, my name is Jessica and I’ve always loved animals. Growing up as an only child, my dog was like my brother. Now I have 5 dogs of my own, plus a mini Persian kitty – thankfully I live with my girlfriend in Waldo in a house big enough to hold my pack! In my free time, I of course enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also love doing music, photography, watching movies, and taking the pups to the park. I was lucky enough to be hired on here at FMA in the fall of 2015, starting as a receptionist but also working as a kennel technician here and there. A job where I can bring Gigi (my lil “Bos-huahua”) is the perfect job for me!
I love working here at FMA Animal Hospital. I am a caregiver by nature so taking care of the pets here fits right into my personality. I first came to FMA as a client in 2014 when my Rottweiler was diagnosed with bone cancer and Dr. B saved his life. After amputating his leg and 5 rounds of chemo he is good as new! I couldn’t be more thankful to Dr. B and his entire staff. After building a personal relationship with the staff I was approached thinking I’d be a perfect addition to the kennel staff. I previously worked at a BBQ restaurant for 5 years and they decided to retire so the timing was perfect! I have recently experienced my first foster fail here with my Mastiff mix Natasha and have also adopted a doxie/beagle mix named Hank the Tank. I also have 2 Pomeranians at home name Kaiya and Moose, in addition to my 2 old men (and my husband Jeff!) I believe pets are a gift from God and I am committed to caring for those gifts with all the love in my heart.
Hello, my name is Julia! My animal care experience began working on a farm caring for horses and Limousin cattle at the age of 15. Shortly before my 19th birthday I started as a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital. I worked there for 2 years before moving to Kansas City and accepting a position as a surgical assistant and kennel tech at another local animal hospital. I later switched to a bather position. As of February 2015 I began here at FMA as a kennel tech and have now been promoted to Veterinary Technician, and I absolutely love it here. I like to spend my free time with my husband Lance and our 2 wonderful daughters Cheyenne and Arya. We also have three fur babies named Osha (who loves coming with mommy to work), Crow, a precious black kitten that I adopted from FMA, and Yara, who was abandoned at FMA and I couldn’t resist. I couldn’t be happier with my little family and am excited to keep learning new techniques and skills. I am an avid weather enthusiast and a huge Chiefs fan. GO CHIEFS!
My name is Emily and my love for animals goes as far back as I can remember! As a kid, all I ever wanted to do was be around animals. Let’s put it this way, at family functions I spend more time with the pets than the people. I started working around animals in 2012 at a local shelter as an adoption counselor and eventually started working as a kennel staff member. I learned so much in the 3 years I was there. I graduated from JCCC with 2 associates degrees and am now at KU working on a bachelors in Psychology. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats who are my best friends. I am looking forward to building new relationships with all of the wonderful people here at FMA and could not be more excited to learn, grow and be a part of an amazing team.
Hey there! My name is Alyssa and I’m a Kennel Technician here at FMA. My job is to give my dedicated care to all of the furbabies who stay here and I couldn’t have asked for a better job. I grew up on a farm. Animals have always been a part of my life and caring for them has been my second nature. Here and now, I have 2 dogs. Kenzie, a lab mix and Bently, a pomeranian. I also have 2 kittens, Maggie and Ghost, whom I adopted from FMA. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my Fiance Alex, and our 3 children, Chase, Alexis, and Aidan. Whom, of course, share my love for animals. I learn something new everyday here at FMA and I can, without a doubt, say I love my job!
Hi, my name is Kailey. I grew up just south of Lawerence, KS, and I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have an animal companion. Dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, and horses were my favorites. I now have my beagle Mikey, and two cats, Sonny and Ally. I’ve always known that I wanted to help animals, so I started my career as a kennel tech here at FMA and I love my job! I am also in school working towards becoming a vet tech so I can expand my knowledge and make pets and pet owners happy!
